Benefits of
Migrating from TriSys ASP Version 6 to Version 7
During
2007, all customers running TriSys ASP Version 6 were migrated to TriSys ASP
Version 7.
To
assist understanding of this migration programme, this document describes the
additional benefits to customers currently on ASP Version 6 in moving to
Version 7.0
The
key benefits of TriSys ASP Version 7 over Version 6 are:
·
TriSys
Version 7.0 is a new stable version of TriSys released in 2006 with much
greater functionality
·
TriSys
ASP Version 7 is hosted at a multi-million pound data centre in England
·
Windows
profiles utilise more modern technology so are more robust
·
Each
ASP server has dedicated bandwidth resulting in a much faster user experience
·
Exchange
e-mail can be synchronised with TriSys 7 so that all incoming and outgoing
e-mails are saved in the SQL database and tagged against the correct contact
·
SQL
Server 2005 can take advantage of faster computers
·
Web
Services Connectivity and Hybrid Delivery
·
Antigen
Anti-Spam
·
Improved
technical support
Each
key benefit is described in more detail below.
TriSys Version 7.0
TriSys
Version 7.0 was released in 2006 and is the most powerful release ever of
TriSys. The full list of features is described here and there
are also multimedia presentations
of the functionality.

Version
7.0 has an integrated back office for timesheet and invoicing, a new temps
booking sheet for fast paced temporary recruitment, together with a host of new
and improved functionality and user interface enhancements. The new TriSys Web
provides web browser access to the database for clients and candidates e.g. web
jobs.
Multi-Million Pound Data Centre
TriSys
ASP Version 6.0 was originally hosted entirely at our HQ in Cambridge. Whilst
this is a completely secure and professionally managed data centre, it has
reached the limits of expansion. As the costs of telecommunications and
hardware have fallen significantly within the last few years, the concept of
the TriSys Geo-Cluster was born. The TriSys Geo-Cluster will be a network of
TriSys ASP server farms located within a wide-geographically-dispersed global
network. This provides resiliency and redundancy to mitigate threats such as
global warming, terrorism, power shortages, telecommunication outages and human
error.
The
primary Geo-Cluster data centre is hosted with DediPower.
The
data centre is a world-class professionally managed, fully secure environment
with backup power generators, redundant telecommunications. TriSys manages the
entire TriSys ASP via secure communications ensuring that data remains secure
and confidential only to TriSys and its customers. Our Geo-Cluster partners
provide infrastructure only – TriSys manages and supports the applications and
data.
Windows Profiles
Microsoft
Windows 2003 provides the base operating system of TriSys ASP. The Active
Directory manages all security, permissions etc.. TriSys ASP Version 6.0
utilised the roaming profile features of Windows 2003 and these have been known
to become corrupt under certain circumstances. The TriSys ASP Version 7.0
environment has removed the reliance upon these profiles and therefore the V7
ASP system does not suffer any corruption.
Dedicated ASP Server Bandwidth
The
telecommunications at the TriSys ASP V6 Cambridge data centre are shared
between all ASP servers, e-mail servers and web servers. This can have the
effect of causing a slow down in performance when high-data/high-bandwidth
applications or users are fully utilising the systems. The TriSys V7 ASP
environment provides dedicated multi-megabit telecommunications Per Server so
that each server is isolated from the demands of other servers in the cluster.
This provides faster performance at all times.
Exchange Synchronisation
One
of the key benefits of TriSys V7 over V6, is the exchange synchronisation
utility which assigns all incoming and outgoing e-mail to the associated TriSys
contact records. This is done automatically so that every single e-mail
transaction, even if carried out on a wireless PDA or remote terminal, will be
recorded in the database and searchable. TriSys V7 can also synchronise
Microsoft Outlook Calendar and Contacts to provide full PDA support for
recruitment activities.

SQL Server 2005
The
TriSys ASP V7 cluster utilises only Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
This database server is more powerful and scalable than SQL Server 2000 and can
operate on dedicated 64-bit Windows 2003 to take advantage of high performance
intel processors and large amounts of memory.
TriSys Web Services Connectivity
The
recent innovations with respect to the publication of secure web services allow
TriSys ASP V7 customers to make use of the hybrid model to access the ASP
system. This allows customers with ultra-fast computers to take advantage of
the local processor and the new Vista release of windows and Office 2007,
whilst enjoying the benefits of a centrally managed data service. Please read this article which
described how TriSys V7 can be utilised in this way.
Antigen Anti-Spam Filtering
TriSys
ASP V7 utilises the latest anti-spam technology from Microsoft. Please read this article to understand the benefits
of this technology.
Improved Technical Support
Because
the TriSys ASP V7 cluster has been designed and built by our network engineers
using state of the art tried and tested technology, we are able to provide a
much higher level of support than to the older legacy ASP environment of V6.
Also, because the hardware can be replaced immediately as part of the service
agreement with our new partners, the potential downtime is almost zero.
TriSys
V7 is also a more generic product which, because of the very high level of
default functionality, there is much less bespoke customisations which improve
the support of the product to customers. TriSys V7 also comes with more
documentation in particular F1 help to allow users to obtain help directly from
the application.
